How can parents be involved?
Reaffirming our philosophy that parents are the most significant adults in a child's life, we encourage active parental involvement. We recommend that you get to know your child's teachers, participate in classroom activities, share your talents, hobbies, or occupations with your child's class, visit the Center, and have lunch with your child at the Center. When joining us for lunch, it is requested that you tell your child's teacher at least one day ahead of your visit.
Plan to participate in our center-wide activities designed to help you have fun with your child and other parents. A "Meet Your Teacher" session is scheduled shortly after enrollment and a tour of the Center or an open house for parents can be given any time. We have occasional holiday celebrations and special events such as children's birthdays or family nights.
Plan to talk with your child about what he or she did in school each day. Talk about your child's handiwork and remember to praise his or her effort.
Teachers make daily observations o your child's behavior and will evaluate his/her growth according to developmental norms. A formal conference to discuss your child's progress may be scheduled as needed. Parents are always welcome to request additional meetings with their child's teacher at anytime. Parents are requested to discreetly address concerns about their children in a private conference setting rather than in the presence of other children, families, and staff. |
